Reach, Tilt, and Sideshift

If the reach mechanism is retracted, it will be necessary to
extend the mechanism to make the following checks.
WARNING
Make sure the key switch is in the OFF position and the
key is removed from the switch before doing this
check.
1. Check for cracks at the welds on the reach frames and
scissor arms.
2. Check the frame channel for excessive wear in the areas
of roller contact. Check the rollers for wear or damage.
3. Check the load backrest for cracks and damage. Make
sure that the nuts and bolts for the load backrest are tight.

Controls

Check that all controls operate as described in Table 1.
WARNING
If any function does not operate or operates incor-
rectly, report the faulty operation immediately. Do not
operate the lift truck until the problem is corrected. Put

a tag on the control handle, stating DO NOT OPERATE.
Remove the key and disconnect the battery.
WARNING
Do the following checks in an area that is clear of other
personnel or equipment.
1. Check the operation of the key switch. Functions should
not operate with the key in the OFF position except manual
steering. Turn the key to the ON position. The horn,
hydraulic system, and traction system should now be
operational.
2. Check the operation of the brake switch. Release the
control handle to allow it to return to the vertical position.
Move the speed/direction control without lowering the con-
trol handle. The traction system must not operate.
3. Check the operation of the speed/direction control.
Lower the control handle. Slowly rotate the speed/direction
control. The electric brake will automatically release. The lift
truck must accelerate smoothly. Rotate the control in the
opposite direction. The lift truck must stop smoothly and
then change direction. The control must return to the OFF
position when released.
