86418-64 ETHER-100 Dual RJ-45 + Dual SFP Module

The 86418-64 top paddleboard module (Figure 31c) is equipped with two RJ-45
ports and two SFP cages capable of housing SFP transceivers for up to two
optical (100Base-FX) Ethernet connections. Each used SFP port on this module
requires a proper 100 Mb/s SFP transceiver installed. Only SFP transceivers
with Diagnostic Monitoring Interface (DMI) feature may be installed. Refer to
Section 8 for information on 100 Mb/s SFP transceivers available through GE
Multilin.
ALERT and LINK LED indications are explained later in this section.
If used, this module must be installed into 86498-94 paddleboard‟s Bank A.
Note: Each RJ-45 port can be set to auto-negotiate the rate and duplex mode
with far-end devices, with the maximum allowed mode being user-configurable,
or the port can be forced to use a specific mode (auto-negotiation disabled).
Each port can also be set for MDI, MDIX or MDI/MDIX auto-detect mode.
Dust covers for SFP connectors should always be in place when the optical
connector is not in operation. All fiber patch cord connectors should be properly
cleaned before insertion into the unit.
