The 86498-95 ETHER-1000 quad-port module equipped with two 1000 Mb/s
(SFP) and two 100 Mb/s (SFP) Ethernet ports is currently the only module type
that can be installed into Bank B.

86498-95 ETHER-1000 Quad SFP Module

The 86498-95 ETHER-1000 quad-port paddleboard
module (Figure 30) is equipped with four SFP cages,
each capable of housing an SFP transceiver. The
top two ports (labeled G1 and G2) can be used only
for 1000 Mb/s
connections (1000Base-SX or 1000Base-LX) while
the bottom two ports (labeled 5 and 6) can be used
only for 100 Mb/s full duplex optical Ethernet
connections (100Base-FX or 100Base-LH).
Each used port requires a proper SFP transceiver
installed. The choice of transceiver depends on the
port‟s designated rate (1000 or 100 Mb/s), type of
fiber (smf or mmf) and required reach. Only SFP
transceivers with Diagnostic Monitoring Interface
(DMI) feature may be installed. Refer to Section 8
for information on SFP transceivers available through
GE Multilin.
ALERT and LINK LED indications are explained later
in this section.
