Overhead light with movement detector
Item No. 1483920
Intended use
The product is intended for illuminating indoor areas; it may only be installed and used in dry,
enclosed indoor rooms. The product is designed to be mounted on a ceiling. The product
is equipped with a motion detector, which operates on the microwave principle and detects
passers-by with the aid of the thermal profile. The luminosity of the ceiling light, the detection
radius of the motion detector and the duration of lighting after it is triggered by the motion
detector are adjustable.
The ceiling light is not intended for operation via a dimmer.
It is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture, e.g. in
bathrooms, must be avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use
the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged.
In addition, improper use can cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc.

Explanation of symbols
The lightning symbol inside a triangle is used when there is a potential risk of
personal injury, such as electric shock.
An exclamation mark in a triangle indicates important instructions in this operating
manual that absolutely have to be observed.
The arrow symbol indicates specific tips and advice on operation.
The product is designed according to protection class I; the earth wire must be
connected.
The product is intended to be installed and used only in dry indoor rooms; it must not
get damp or wet.
The light cannot be dimmed.
This symbol reminds you to read the operating instructions included with the
product.
Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety
information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on
proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting personal
injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children! There is
a danger of a life-threatening electric shock! Install the product out of the reach of
children. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become
dangerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high
humidity, moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and
protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed
if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• If the product does not operate properly (e.g. flickering light, emitting smoke or
a burning smell, audible crackling noises, discolouration of the ceiling light or
adjacent surfaces) do not use it any more.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height
can damage the product.
• By carrying out improper work on the mains voltage you endanger not only
yourself, but also others!
• The product may only be operated on the mains voltage (see "Technical Data"
section).
• The product is designed according to protection class I; the earth wire must be
connected.
• If a mains supply with a protective earth conductor is unavailable at the place of
installation, the ceiling light must not be connected/used there. In this case, install
a new mains supply with a grounding wire.
• An all-pole circuit breaker (e.g., an earth fault circuit interrupter) must be used on
site during installation.
• Only use the product when it is firmly and steadily mounted. Never install the
ceiling light in vehicles.
• Do not hang or attach any objects (e.g. decorative material) on/to the ceiling light.
• In industrial facilities, the accident prevention regulations for electrical equipment
and facilities issued by the Industrial Employers' Liability Association must be
adhered to!
• Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the
device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an
expert or at a qualified shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions,
contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
Choosing the location
• The motion detector is designed for a mounting height of 2.5 to 4 m.
• As the motion detector uses the microwave principle, it must not be directed at heat sources
such as heaters, nor must it be aimed at air conditioners. This can result in false alarms
triggered by the motion detector.
• Avoid aiming it at bright external light sources, as this will disable the luminosity settings of
the sensor for night operation.
• Avoid aiming it at powerful electromagnetic interference fields such as electric motors or
ballast resistors of fluorescent tubes.
Preparation for mounting
Warning! The product must only be installed by a qualified electrician who is familiar
with the relevant regulations (e.g. VDE)! By carrying out improper work on the mains
voltage you endanger not only yourself, but also others! If you do not know how to
mount the product, get an expert to do it for you; do not mount it yourself.
• Only mount the ceiling light in stable ceiling material. For mounting, use the screws and
dowels included in the scope of delivery or other fasteners specially designed for the ceiling
material.
• The overhead light must be protected with a 10/16A fuse at the sub-distribution. An earth
leakage circuit breaker must be installed before this.
• The overhead light may only be installed when it is disconnected from the power supply. It is
not sufficient just to turn off the light switch!
• Isolate all poles of the mains cable from the mains supply by removing the electric circuit fuse
or switching off the circuit breaker. Then turn off the earth leakage circuit breaker.
• Secure the ceiling light against unauthorised reconnection, e.g. with a warning sign.
• Check that the mains cable is free of current, e.g. with an appropriate testing device.
