    Important Information About Safety Instructions The Important Safety Instructions and warnings in these instructions are not meant to cover all possible problems and conditions that can occur. Use common sense and caution when installing, maintaining or operating this or any other appliance. Always contact the Dacor Customer Service Team about problems and conditions that you do not understand. IMPORTANT: If you smell gas: • Do not use or light any appliance. • Do not touch any electrical switch or use any electrical devices, including the telephone, in your building. • From a neighbor’s phone, immediately call the gas supplier. Follow the gas supplier’s instructions. • If you cannot contact the gas supplier, call the fire department. IMPORTANT: Do not store or use combustible, flammable or explosive vapors and liquids (such as gasoline) on or in the vicinity of this or any other appliance. Also keep items that could explode, such as aerosol cans, away from the cooktop. Do not store flammable or explosive materials in adjacent cabinets or areas (including above and below the cooktop). TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK, OR INJURY TO PERSONS, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING: a) Use this unit only in the manner intended by the manufacturer. If the product is damaged when received, immediately contact the dealer or builder. All installation work and electrical wiring must be performed in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction. Install or locate this appliance only in accordance with these installation instructions and the requirements specified by the manufacturer of the cooktop or range. Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service or maintenance can cause serious personal injury or property damage.

    WARNING • The electrical service to the range hood should be installed only by a licensed electrician. • Observe all governing codes and ordinances during planning and installation. Contact your local building department for further information. • use the mounting anchors provided with the DO NOT unit.     reparing for lan the WARNING • To reduce the risk of fire and to properly exhaust air, be sure to duct air outside the house or building. Do not vent exhaust air into spaces within walls or ceilings or into attics, crawl spaces or garages. • Tape all duct joints securely to prevent combustion by-products, smoke or odors from entering the home. Doing so will also improve system efficiency. • Do not exhaust more than one • Use only duct work constructed of materials deemed acceptable by state, municipal and local codes. • Range hoods may interrupt the proper flow of smoke and combustion gases from furnaces, gas water heaters and fireplaces. To avoid drawing lethal gases into the home, follow the manufactures recommendation for these devices and consult NFPA and ASHRAE recommendations. • install an additional in-line or external DO NOT blower to increase the length of the duct run. Even small differences between blower air flow rates can greatly reduce the air draw by the hood. • All duct work materials (including screws and duct tape) must be purchased separately by the customer. Contact your local building department for further information. • A qualified technician must complete the installation of this built-in appliance. The owner is responsible to make sure the hood is properly installed. • To avoid an electric shock hazard and property damage, locate electric wires and water pipes and avoid drilling in the vicinity. • The range hood is heavy. To prevent personal injury and property damage install the hood only as specified below. Make sure all screws used to mount and assemble the hood are tight. lectric erVice nStallation The electrical connection box must be: • Connected to a 120 Vac, 60 Hz dedicated, grounded, circuit protected by a 15 Amp circuit breaker or time delay fuse. • Located a minimum of 17” (43.2 cm) above the bottom of the range hood. ountinG racket Locate the mounting bracket and position it against the ceiling at the previously determined mounting location (see page 5).
  • Page 10 nsTallaTion SSemBly cont Separate the bottom framework piece from the top framework piece. The top frame work piece has 5-inch slots on the the sides. The bottom piece has a series of holes on the sides. Position the bottom framework piece on top of the hood. Slide the studs on the top of the hood into the holes on the bottom of the framework piece. The cut- outs for the wiring allow the bottom framework piece to fit on only one way. If it does not fit properly, turn it 180° so that the cut-outs line up. Make sure all wiring is tucked inside the framework piece and are not pinched. FRAMEWORK BOTTOM HOOD Use eight provided lock washers and nuts to secure the bottom framework piece to the top of the hood. nsTruCTions Attach the hood junction box to the rim of the bottom framework piece using two machine screws as shown. HOOD JUNCTION 10. Attach the external motor terminal block to the rim of the bottom framework piece using two machine screws as shown. It mounts on the opposite side of the hood junction box.   • Page 11 Measure the distance from the ceiling to the cooktop. • Subtract the height at which the hood will be mounted (30” minimum) and the hood thickness (12 1/2”) from the distance measured. 12. Put the top framework piece over the bottom framework piece. The mounting slots on the top piece must be up. 13. Use four machine screws to fasten the top piece to the bottom piece. The total height of the two pieces together must equal the required framework height determined above. 14. Remove the protective plastic covering from both pieces of the chimney assembly. Do not remove the protective tape strips from the inside. They protect the telescoping pieces from scratching during installation. 15. Carefully slide both sections together so that only the vents on the top section show. 16. Hold the chimney vertically with the vents up. 17. Carefully put the chimney over the top of the framework, taking care not to scratch the surfaces. Make sure the Dacor logo faces the same side as the control panel. 18.     nsTallaTion anGinG the anGe WARNING • To prevent personal injury, do not rely on the mounting springs to hold the hood assembly in place on the ceiling. Once the hood is hooked in place IMMEDIATELY secure the framework to the mounting bracket as described below. Before raising the hood into position, lift it up and orient it so that the control panel faces the same direction as the front of the cooktop or range. Lift the hood assembly up on both sides and slip the end of the framework over the mounting bracket. Push up until all four mounting springs protrude out of the mounting slots on the top of the framework. Attach the framework to the mounting bracket using four self-tapping screws. nsTruCTions nStall the • Do not use screws to attach the duct work to the hood exhaust outlet. Use duct tape only. Screws may prevent the damper flaps on the top of the hood from opening. • Install the duct work system. Lift the chimney up and reach inside the framework to access the hood exhaust. Attach the duct to the hood exhaust with duct tape alone. Use sheet metal screws (not provided) and duct tape on all the remaining duct system joints.     nsTallaTion inal lectrical nStallation WARNINGS • To avoid electrical shock or fire hazard, make sure the power supply at the fuse or junction box is turned off before proceeding with final electrical installation. • Improper connection of the hood electrical wiring may create an electric shock or fire hazard and may result in damage to the hoods electrical system. • Do not ground the hood to the neutral (white) power supply wire. Connect the hood ground wire to a separate, properly grounded wire installed by a licensed electrician. Connect the house power supply wires to the wires coming out of the hood junction box, inside the chimney: Connect the white wire from the hood to the neutral (white) power supply wire. Connect the black wire from the hood to the hot (black) power supply wire.
  • Page 14: Verifying Proper Operation

    “+” repeatedly, three times. Verify that with each touch of the key the number of lights on the blower speed indicator increases and that the blower speed increases. Touch and hold the blower “-” key until the blower turns off. If the hood fails to operate properly: • Verify that power is supplied to the hood. • Check the electrical connections to ensure that the installation has been completed correctly. • Repeat the above test. • If the appliance still does not work, contact an authorized Dacor service company at (800) 793-0093. Do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Dacor is not responsible for service required to correct a faulty installation. nsTruCTions nStallation heckliSt WARNING • To ensure a safe and proper installation, the following checklist should be completed by the installer to ensure that no part of the installation has been overlooked. • Proper installation is the responsibility of the homeowner. The importance of proper installation of your Dacor range hood cannot be overemphasized.
