Updating the Firmware
Your BSU II ships with the correct firmware already installed. You will need to upload firmware to the unit only
if updated firmware is required.
Use the following steps to update the BSU II via ComloaderW:
1. Run ComloaderW on a PC connected to the craft port of the BSU II.
2. Click the COM Port Settings button to open the Communications Settings dialog box. Set the baud rate to
4800 baud.
3. Select the firmware upgrade file by typing its directory path and file name in the Task File box, or browse to
the firmware upgrade file by clicking the Browse button.
4. Click the Start button in the ComLoader window. The firmware upgrade will be automatically download to
the BSU II.
Note: See Section 12.1 for information about the LED display status during the download process.
While downloading, the Comloader window will display the checksum, type, and phase of the task file and the
baud rate of your connection to the NetGuardian. The progress bar indicates the progress and completion of the
firmware download.
The Open Protocol button opens the Protocol Window. The Protocol Window is for troubleshooting purpose only.
Do not open the Protocol Window unless you are requested to do so by DPS Telecom Technical Support
Personnel.
Note: Do not abort or disturb the upgrade process in any way while downloading is in progress as this may cause
the unit to become inoperable.
When the firmware download is complete, click the Exit button to exit Comloader.

Red:
Waiting for load signal.
Green: Downloading firmware.
The COMM LED will toggle slowly between red and green when erasing the old BSU II application. When the
BSU II is downloading the new application, the COMM LED will toggle fast between red and green.
