- Page 2 Using the Quick-Release Plate Before you attach your camera to the pistol grip ball head, make sure the head is secured to the tripod with the 3/8-inch socket. The maximum load capacity is 6.6 pounds (3 kg). Flip the lock out, and remove the quick-release plate.
