Items Required (not included) • Transparent tape • Sharpies or colored markers • Ballpoint pen (optional) • Straightedge such as a metal • Mechanical or electric winder ruler (optional) • Scissors Preparing the Parts 1) Take a look at the two pattern sheets and select one pattern to use. Then, cut out your pattern parts in one rough piece. 2) Place the parts over the foam sheet, taping down the edges. If cut in one piece, the parts should fit over the foam sheet. 3) Using the straightedge and pen, firmly mark over the lines of the pattern pieces (Figure 1). 5) Before throwing away the pattern, pay attention to what side of the parts are labeled as the front. You can color or make patterns on the foam pieces using the markers. 6) Crease the center of the large wing (Figure 3). Using the edge of a table, create a camber (a slight arch) in the wing more toward the front of the wing (Figure 4). Figure 3 7) On the two smaller foam pieces, carefully cut the small solid lines that go into the part. Where there are dotted lines, fold and slightly crease the foam (Figure 5). These trim tabs will be helpful when flying the plane. Figure 4 Figure 5 BFF Balsa Foam Flyer User Guide 60101 V0913...

1) Apply an adhesive line on one side of a wing-mounting clip. Repeat on the other side (Figure 6) and remove the backing from both lines. 2) Attach it to the bottom of the wing’s underside, with the center of the clip over the creased center of the wing. 3) Repeat Step 1 with the other clip, two more glue lines, and the top underside Figure 6 of the wing (Figure 7). 4) Trace the centerline on the tail wing, which is called the stab (Figure 8). Place two glue lines along this centerline. Remove the backing from the glue lines and line up the tapered end of the motor stick on them (Figure 9). Press the motor Figure 7 stick down firmly. Remove the backing and place the fin so the glue lines come in contact with the Plane A motor stick above 2-5/8" the stab (Figure 11). 6) Based on the measurement provided for your Plane B plane in the Figure 12, measure and 3-3/8" mark that length on your motor stick starting from the front of the motor Plane C stick. This is the leading edge that 3-1/4" you will align the wing to. Plane D 3-5/8" Figure 12 BFF Balsa Foam Flyer User Guide 60101 V0913...

7) Take the wing and press the motor stick into the clips, moving the wing so the front is lined up with the mark. Using tape, secure the clips in this location (Figure 13). Figure 13 8) Insert the pin into the motor stick just in front of the stab. The pin should be at an angle toward the back of the plane (Figure 14). 9) Attach the propeller to the front of the motor stick with the hook on the underside of the plane Figure 14 (Figure 15). 10) Tie the two ends of the rubber motor together in a knot. Hook the knotted end over the pin and the other end over the propeller hook (Figure 16). Figure 16 Flying the Flyer Caution: Before flying your plane, make sure you have a large, open area to fly it in. Make sure no one is in the way of your flight path. 1) Holding the motor stick with one hand, wind the rubber band clockwise by turning the propeller. If you have a winder, use that and follow its directions for winding – mechanical winders work differently from electric winders (Figure 17 on the next page). We recommend 100 to 400 winds – do not wind it more than 400 turns. For the first flight, only wind it 100 times and test the plane. BFF Balsa Foam Flyer User Guide 60101 V0913...

3) When the plane flies as you like, you can wind it for a longer flight. Figure 17 (winders shown with different model of propeller plane) P.O. Box 1708 • Pittsburg, KS 66762 shop.pitsco.com Toll-Free Orders 800-835-0686 BFF Balsa Foam Flyer User Guide 60101 V0913...
