AIR TEMPERATURE / PRESSURE
SENSOR (T-MAP)
q
The T-MAP sensor
is mounted the top of the air box.
The T-MAP supplies the ECU with air intake temperature
and barometric pressure information.
Test the T-MAP using Digital Wrench to verify the return
signals match the current environment. A digital
multimeter can be used to test the resistance values for
both the temperature and pressure sensors. Compare
results to table below.

CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSORS
(CPS)
Two crankshaft position sensors are used to determine
engine direction, ignition / fuel injection angles and
engine speed.
q
The 2 tooth CPS
picks up 2 inner flywheel teeth and
determines crank angle.
w
The 5 tooth CPS
picks up 5 outer flywheel teeth and
determines the following:
• Judge direction of rotation (forward and backward)
• Ignition advance angle control
• Injector drive angle control
• Excess advance ignition control at reverse
• MAG / PTO cylinder detection
The sensors must be in the correct position or the engine
will not run. A sheared flywheel key will cause the engine
to not start or to shut off.
Test both position sensors using a digital multi-meter.
Compare resistance values to specification. The
crankshaft position sensors are not serviceable. If testing
reveals replacement is required, the stator assembly
must be replaced.
