CLUTCH ALIGNMENT / OFFSET - PS-
52666
NOTICE
The Clutch Alignment tool is specifically designed to
work on 850 AXYS long track (155" or longer)
snowmobiles. Do not use the Clutch Alignment tool on
other Polaris snowmobiles.
The drive and driven clutches are offset from each other.
This offset is controlled by the number and thickness of
washers installed on the jackshaft behind the driven
clutch.
The drive clutch (engine) is mounted in the bulkhead at a
slight angle when compared to the driven clutch
(jackshaft). When the driver applies throttle and the drive
clutch engages the belt, the drive clutch will self-align
with the driven clutch.
Both the clutch offset and alignment can be easily
inspected using the Clutch Alignment tool.
Clutch Alignment Tool:
PS-52666
The Clutch Alignment tool is designed with the specified
alignment angle and offset. When installed into the drive
clutch and placed on top of the driven clutch, the
technician can immediately determine if any adjustments
are required.

clutch. If it does not touch the driven sheave, the
maximum clearance cannot exceed .025" (0.64 mm).
q
If the front
touches the driven clutch, but the rear
does not make contact, the maximum rear clearance
cannot exceed .060" (1.5 mm).
NOTICE
While maximum front and rear clearance values are
given, the optimum clutch alignment and offset, and
thus maximum clutch efficiency, is obtained when the
tool touches the driven clutch.
