"Winding the Bobbin
For the usual sewing jobs, you will do well to use a
thread of medium thickness.

8 There is no bobbin case. Drop the bobbin into the
rotary hook, with the holes facing upwards.

Turn the safety dial to Bobbin Winding " IL ".
Make sure that it is properly engaged.
Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder with the
holes on top.
3 Pull out the spool pin and place the spool on it.
Raise the thread guide and pass the thread through it.
5 Wind the end of the thread around the bobbin by
hand, in the direction indicated.
Wind by machine, while pressing lightly on the
spool with the left hand, so that the thread will
be stretched and the bobbin wound more evenly.
Important: — Watch the bobbin and stop
winding just before the bobbin is completely full.
Turn the safety dial to Sewing "{ ". It will
remain in that position as long as you use
the machine.
Retain the bobbin with the left index finger.
Pass the thread through the slot (a). Bring the thread
round to the front, at the angle illustrated (b).
Close the rotary hook cover and draw the
thread into the notch with a slight tug to the
rear. It then snaps into the tension spring
automatically.
Important check, to ensure that your Elna
Elnita will sew properly:
10 Open the rotary hook cover and check by
pulling the thread gently towards the rear.
It should not come out of the slot (8a) ; if it
does, repeat the operations as explained
under 8 and 9 above.
11 To change the bobbin, pull the extractor down
into the bobbin. When it is released, the bobbin is
automatically removed.
