3. PRINTER SERVICING FUNCTIONS

3.1 Error Indications

The indicators in combination with the beeper indicate the nature of any error.
There are two types of errors: operator call errors, which can be corrected by the user,
and service call errors, which cannot be corrected by the user. The indicators show
which type of error has occurred. If an operator call error occurs, the indicators light; if
a service call error occurs, the indicators repeatedly blink a specific number of times,
depending on symptoms.

3.1.1 Operator call errors

The error is displayed on the computer screen via the printer driver, and you can
check the status of the error as shown in the table below by the number of times that
the beeper on the main unit sounds. If the error is not corrected by the apparent
means, as indicated by the error display, the fault may be elsewhere. In this case,
refer to "Part 5: 6. TROUBLESHOOTING" (page 5-13) .
