Liebert Trinergy™ Cube INTRODUCTION 1.3. Terms used 1.3.1. Service bypass A switch that provides continuous supply to the load via the bypass input power line during maintenance work; also referred to as the maintenance bypass. 1.3.2. Static bypass switch A thyristor switch which connects the load directly to the power line; also referred to as a static switch or static bypass.
OPERATING MODES Liebert Trinergy™ Cube 2. OPERATING MODES 2.1. Functions Trinergy™ Cube incorporates the three existing standard topologies into one transformer-free UPS: Maximum Power Control mode (IEC 62040-3 VFI): This is the double conversion mode which provides the highest level of power conditioning. It protects the load from all types of electrical network disturbances that would use a greater amount of energy.

Liebert Trinergy™ Cube OPERATING MODES Dynamic Online - High Efficiency & Power Conditioning mode (IEC 62040-3 VI): This mode compensates for output load THDi, output load PF. It reduces line power disturbances such as sags and swells. The load is fed by the bypass line, and the inverter works as an active filter, which compensates for the reactive power required by the load.
OPERATING MODES Liebert Trinergy™ Cube Maintenance bypass In this operating mode, the connected loads are supplied directly with line power. The touch screen is disabled. Maintenance bypass is used to supply connected loads during maintenance work on the UPS (see Fig. 5 - on page 9).
Liebert Trinergy™ Cube OPERATING MODES 2.2.5. Modern technology • Interfaces with software for all operating systems • IGBT power transistors • Highly integrated digital electronics (ASIC) • Especially suited for computer loads The UPS can also be used as a frequency converter for 50/60 Hz or vice versa. 2.3.
OPERATING MODES Liebert Trinergy™ Cube 2.3.1. Components Each core in the system consists of the following components: • Rectifier - Provides regulated DC to inverter and booster/charger • Inverter - Provides controlled AC output to the critical load • Booster/charger - Charges the battery when line power is present. Supplies the inverter from the battery when line power has failed •...
Liebert Trinergy™ Cube OPERATING MODES 2.4.3. Connecting the batteries Before the system starts, make sure that UPS battery connection polarity is correct. Wrong connections can endanger operator safety and damage the system. This operation must be carried out by authorized personnel and with the external battery disconnected.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Liebert Trinergy™ Cube 3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Trinergy™ Cube features several different operating modes, which are listed in para. 2.1 on page 7. Trinergy™ Cube automatically selects the most suitable operating mode for the application. When Trinergy™ Cube is switched on, as described in Procedure 1, the touch screen displays the “System in bypass”...
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Liebert Trinergy™ Cube Figure 10 - Screen overview of the system in VFI mode 3.2. Single UPS – Switching to system bypass With the system running in the selected operating mode, press the “CONTROL” button to return to bypass mode.
Liebert Trinergy™ Cube OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS The UPS will switch to the “System in bypass” condition only when all the “STOP” buttons have been pressed. Under these conditions the load is supplied by the bypass, and all automatic functions, including battery operation, are disabled.
UPS SWITCHING PROCEDURES Liebert Trinergy™ Cube 4. UPS SWITCHING PROCEDURES Procedures refer to para. 2.3 on page 10. 4.1. Procedure 1: UPS TURN-ON PROCEDURE Starting with the UPS completely de-energized, this procedure explains how to switch ON the UPS and set it to normal operation mode.
Liebert Trinergy™ Cube UPS SWITCHING PROCEDURES 4.3. Procedure 3: TRANSFER FROM NORMAL MODE TO MAINTENANCE BYPASS MODE Starting from the UPS in normal operation mode, this procedure explains how to transfer the load to maintenance bypass and shut down the UPS. SINGLE UPS TURN-OFF PROCEDURE STEP ACTION...
PARALLEL OPERATION Liebert Trinergy™ Cube 5. PARALLEL OPERATION Up to eight units can be connected in parallel to increase power capacity and thus provide more secure power to the load (redundancy). The modules in parallel exchange information via a 25-wire shielded cable. The total load current is shared between the modules.
Liebert Trinergy™ Cube PARALLEL OPERATION 5.5. Procedure 2: UPS TURN-OFF PROCEDURE Starting with each UPS in normal mode, this procedure explains how to switch off the UPS. When this procedure is followed completely, the output voltage will be completely turned off, and any load(s) connected to the UPS output will be shut down.
PARALLEL OPERATION Liebert Trinergy™ Cube 5.7. Procedure 4: TRANSFER FROM MAINTENANCE BYPASS MODE TO NORMAL MODE Starting with each UPS in maintenance bypass, this procedure explains how to turn ON the UPS and to transfer the load to normal mode. Then, after a short period, it selects the appropriate operating mode, which depends on the ambient conditions it has detected.
MAINTENANCE Liebert Trinergy™ Cube 6. MAINTENANCE Vertiv recommends that regular maintenance checks be carried out on-site by an authorized customer service. 6.1. Limited Life Components The Trinergy™ Cube has a design life well in excess of 10 years. Well-maintained units can continue to provide economic benefits for 20 years or more.
