The port 's maximum PoE power value is 75W.
In t his example t he newly connect ed PD will not be powered on since t he port 's maximum PoE power
value is great er t han t he PoE power remaining on t he swit ch.
To allow t he PD t o be powered, t he port 's maximum PoE value can be conf igured t o be less t han t he
power remaining by issuing t he f ollowing command t o set t he port 's maximum PoE power t o 10W:
-> lanpower power 1/1/1 power 10000
Using t he previous exampl e:
•
There is 50W of PoE power remaining on t he swit ch.
•
A newly connect ed PD only requires 4W of power.
•
The port 's maximum PoE power value is now 10W.
The newl y connect ed PD will be powered on since t he port 's maximum PoE power value is now less t han
t he PoE power remaining on t he swit ch.
The examples assume t he new PD has t he same or lower priorit y as t he exist ing PDs, ot herwise priorit y
disconnect will override.
The Guard Band f unct ionalit y does not apply t o PDs t hat are already powered up. However, priorit y
disconnect will appl y if t here's not enough power t o power all PDs in t he case of t he power budget being
reduced, such as t he removal of a power supply.
