The ADTRAN Bluesocket virtual wireless local area network (vWLAN) is a secure wireless
solution composed of the vWLAN desktop appliance and associated Bluesocket access points
(BSAPs). The vWLAN desktop appliance runs vWLAN software and is configured by installing
the desktop appliance and associated BSAPs. This document describes the initial setup of the
vWLAN desktop appliance for use with vWLAN.

The Bluesocket vWLAN Desktop Appliance (P/N 1700918F1) only functions with
vWLAN software release 2.5 or later. This desktop appliance should never be
downgraded to a software version prior to vWLAN 2.5.

- Page 2 WLAN D NSTALLING THE V ESKTOP PPLIANCE Follow these steps to configure the ADTRAN Bluesocket vWLAN desktop appliance for installation: Place the vWLAN desktop appliance on a table or shelf in the location where you will manage it. Insert the power cable into receptacle of the AC power supply, then insert the AC power supply’s barrel connector into the port labeled DC 12V 5A on the rear panel of the unit.
- Page 3 IP A INDING THE DDRESS SING THE ERIAL If you cannot find the IP address of the vWLAN desktop appliance through a DHCP server, you can use the Serial port. To find the IP address using the Serial port on the rear of the desktop appliance, follow these steps: Connect the DB-9 (male) connector of your serial cable (not provided in shipment) to the serial port on the back of the desktop appliance hardware.
