not obstr uct the air vent s w hile the instr ument is in u s e. Avo id st anding the inst rument on or close
to other equ ipment that is ho t.

The 3900 is a S afet y C lass 1 t est instr ument whi ch must be gr ounded bef ore use. The pow er cord
supplie d w it h t he Test S et, o r an appr opri ate re placement , should be use d t o connect t he Test S et
to a gr ounde d A C supply outlet . En sure that th e pow er cor d is prop erly connect ed t o th e A C Pow er
Con nector on the rear pan el of the Test Set pr ior to co nnectin g unit to an A C supply outlet .
The 3900' s P SU aut omatical ly select s the appr opri ate p ower supp ly ra nge w hen the Test Set is
connect ed to an AC pow er supp ly source w hich is w ith in the r ange s sp ecified in App endix B ,

The detacha ble A C pow er co rd i s the Test Set 's discon necting device. I f t he inst rument is
inte grat ed int o a ra ck o r te st system, an exter nal p ower swi tch or circ uit bre aker may b e requ ired.
The Test Set 's AC P owe r C or d shoul d be easily r eached and accessible a t al l times.

A 3 A , 2 50 V , Type F , 20 mm ca rtr idge fuse (F3 AL250 V) is i ncluded in the unit's supply curr ent path
to the P ow er S upply Module. Th e AC P owe r F use is l ocated in th e fu se carr ier locat ed on the r ear
of the T est S et. R epla ce fuse only w it h fuse s of the sp ecified volta ge and curr ent rat ings.
