1.
Press RFG-M3 (11). The display will show the current setting; to adjust the RF
GAIN level you can rotate the main selector (14) or push the / keys (7).
2. To confirm your selection press the main knob (14) or PTT (1) or wait for 6
seconds.
Selecting AM/FM modulation
Press AM/FM–M4 (12); the selected modulation will be shown in the display.
Selecting the display mode (frequency – channel number)
By default the display of the radio shows the channel in use and its frequency, but
it's also possible to display only the channel number, only the frequency or both
indications.
To change the option press briefly FN (5) and then EMG-MENU (6), now you can
choose the desired indication.
Emergency channel 9/19
Press briefly EMG-MENU (6) for a quick selection of the emergency channel 9;
push it again to select the emergency channel 19. To return to the channel in use
push EMG-MENU (6) again.
Receiving
When the radio is turned on, it is able to receive signals on the channel in use.
The received signal strength is shown in the display with the following bar:
Be sure to have set the desired modulation (AM or FM).
When the radio receives a signal whose level is higher than the squelch threshold,
the LED will turn on green.
To mute the speaker press FN (5) followed by VOL-MUTE (4). The icon
appear on the display .
To deactivate the mute feature press any other key.
Transmitting
Before transmitting, be sure that the channel is not busy in that moment.
Press PTT (1) and speak towards the microphone.
While transmitting, the LED (15) will turn red and and the output power will be
indicated by the bar in the upper part of the display
Release PTT (1) to receive.

How to store and recall memories M1, M2, M3 and M4
If you press any of these keys for more than 2 seconds, the channel in use will be
stored.
As confirmation you will hear two beep sounds and a star icon will be displayed in
correspondance of the memory.
To recall a memory: press FN (5) followed by the button of the memory you want
to call M1, M2, M3 or M4.
To delete a memory: push FN (5) and keep it pressed for more than 2 seconds.
followed by the button of the memory you want to delete (M1, M2, M3 or M4).
You will hear two beep sounds as confirmation and the icon of the star will disappear
from the display.
Channel scan
The scan function allows to rapidly seek a busy channel.
To start scanning keep pressed the / controls (7).
All channels will be repeatedly be scanned; everytime a signal is detected, the radio
will stop scanning and the color the channel number shown in the display will turn
from white to red.
To invert the scan direction, rotate the knob of the main selector (14) or press the
UP/DOWN keys on the microphone (3) (5).
The scan can be interrupted in the following ways:
press PTT on the microphone (1) or  (priority channel of the microphone) ;
press the knob on the main selector (14);
press the arrow keys (/ or /);
It is possible to exclude some channels from the scan list: select the channel to
exclude and keep pressed the key on the main knob (14) for more than 2 seconds.
The display will show:
to confirm the channel removed from the scan list.
Repeat the same procedure to exclude further channels.
Selecting the frequency band
Midland 88 is a multi standard CB radio that can be used in many countries.
According to the country where you are operating, you have to select the proper
and allowed frequency band.
