MPC2000+ Technical Manual
10. MPC2000+ Communications
The Intelligent Motor Protection and Control system offered utilises our very latest development the MPC2000+
Motor Protection and Controller.
The MPC2000+ in addition to its very comprehensive protection and control features has been equipped with a very
powerful data communications system. This extends it's boundaries far beyond a motor protection controller into the
realms of a complete motor management system. It provides high speed data acquisition to supervisory computers to
form a complete motor management system.
Each MPC2000+ can be connected to an isolated data highway using RS485 communications. Up to 32 MPC2000+
units can be connected to each data highway.
The host system can interrogate the unit to monitor motor status, running conditions, historical data and fault data as
well as start and stop the motor and reset fault/alarm conditions.
The MPC2000+ is available with P&B Goldstart protocol installed for use with P&B's Goldstart Integrated
Protection, Control & Monitoring System or with a Slave implementation of Modbus RTU protocol for small systems
where data concentration is not required.
Full details of the above are available on request.
11. MPC2000+ Flash/Constant Messages
The following Flash and Constant messages are displayed by the MPC2000+ LCD :
DATA SAVED OK
This Flash message is displayed after a setting parameter has been correctly stored to the EEPROM memory
WRONG DATA SAVED
This Flash message is displayed if an error has occurred in attempting to save a setting parameter to the EEPROM
memory.
WRONG PARAMETERS
This message is displayed after power up if the EEPROM parameter check sum is found to be incorrect. This may
occur if installing a new EEPROM in the MPC2000+.
UNAUTHORISED ACCESS
If an attempt is made to change or store a setting parameter whilst the Authorise input is open this Flash message is
displayed. This message will also be displayed if an attempt is made to reset a fault for which the panel reset has been
disabled.
RESET THERMAL CAPACITY ???
This Flash message is displayed when the reset key is pressed with the Authorised input closed and if the reset button
is pressed again whilst the message is displayed, the Thermal Capacity will be re-set to Zero.
THERMAL CAPACITY RESET PERFORMED
This Flash message is displayed after the above operation has been successfully performed.
UNABLE TO START CHECK SYSTEM
This Flash message is displayed if a Start signal is given to the MPC2000+ whilst either the Logic inputs are not in the
correct state to accept the particular signal or any signal or when the unit has tripped on a fault which has not been
reset.
SELF TEST PASSED
This Flash message is displayed if the 'Run Self Test' function of the Test/Maintenance Options is successfully
performed.
