MPC2000+ Technical Manual
Designate Aux. 2
This setting, range Trip, Trip-Fail Safe, Slave to Contactor A or Slave to Contactor B output, with a default setting of
'Trip' determines the use of the Aux 2 relay.
Aux.2 Delay
This setting range 0-120s in steps of 1s, with a default setting of 0, allows the user to set a time delay on the operation
of the Aux.2 relay.
Protection Only Mode
This setting range Yes or No with a default setting of 'No', enables the MPC2000+ to function either as a motor
protector and controller, or as a motor protection relay only. If the Protection Only parameter is set to 'Yes' the
MPC2000+ no longer controls the motor starting/stopping but only provides protection for current, voltage and
Thermistor inputs, but still maintains the data display facilities which are available via the LCD and keypad and via
the RS485 Serial port. In Protection Only mode the MPC2000+ control inputs and outputs operate as follows:
Contactor A Output relay is used to provide separate indication of a thermal Overload fault.
Contactor B output relay is used to provide separate indication of Earth Faults.
Aux.1 Output relay is used for giving indication of Alarms.
Aux.2 Output relay is used for tripping and indication of Faults.
Contactor A and Contactor B LED's are permanently off.
A Start is recognised and the LED lit when current is above 1.1 x O/L Setting level after standstill.
Running is recognised only when current is seen by the MPC2000+ current inputs.
Stop is recognised when current is below 12% of rated FLC for more than 0.35 sec.
Local Start A and B, Local Stop, Plant Interlock, Isolator and PLC Start A/B logic inputs are disabled and have no
effect on the operation of the MPC2000+.
Emergency Stop logic input can still be used to trip the motor through the trip relay.
The External Fault 2 & 3 inputs can still be used as before.
Local/Remote Disable
This setting range On or Off with a default setting of No when set to on always allows a local start even if the
Local/Remote switch is set to Remote.
