7.3 ROLLERS

The rollers on the mower deck can be disassembled
for cleaning and greasing.
1. Remove one cotter pin and pull roller shaft out.
Note location of washers.
2. Clean shaft and inside of roller.
3. Grease with a lithium grease and reassemble.

Mower Removal
1. Remove the key from the ignition switch and the
negative cable from the battery prior to removing
the mower assembly.
2. Release the mower PTO belt tension by releasing
the idler pulley spring. Remove the belt and lower
the mower.
3. Remove the lock nuts, spring, washers and bolt for
the mower lift pivot.

4. Raise lift and slide mower out.
5. Install mower in reverse order.
Mower Spindle Removal
1. With the mower deck removed from the unit the
spindle can be removed, Figure 14.
2. Loosen the idler arms and remove belts from
spindle sheaves.
3. Remove mower blades.
CAUTION: Mower blades may be sharp. Use
gloves or heavy padding to grip the blades.
4. Unscrew nuts at top of spindle. Remove pulleys.
Inspect shaft and woodruff key for wear.
5. Unbolt and remove housing from deck.
6. Install spindle in reverse order. Apply grease to
fitting on spindle.
Spindle Repair
The spindle must be removed from the mower deck to
remove the shaft and bearings, Figure 14. Check
spindle shaft for excessive play, to repair:
1. Remove the grease seals
2. Remove bearings and spindle shaft.
NOTE: Bearing and bearing race must be replaced as
a set.
3. Press out the bearing race.
4. Insert and press in the new races. Check to see
that they are fully pressed into the housing.
5. Grease bearings with high quality wheel bearing
grease.
6. Clean and grease the spindle shaft before inserting
it into the housing.
7. Slide bearings in place with washer at top end.
8. Press new seals in place.
9. Apply grease to fitting.
