3 Pin Assignment and Description

The MA860C has two connectors, connector P1 for control signals connections, and connector P2 for power and motor
connections. The following tables are brief descriptions of the two connectors. More detailed descriptions of the pins
and related issues are presented in section 4, 5, 9.

3.2 Selecting Internal Microstep and Control Signal Mode

There are two jumpers CN6 and CN7 inside the MA860C specifically for selecting control mode and enable internal
microstep , as shown in figure 2. Default setting are PUL/DIR mode and enable internal microstep .

DIR signal: In single-pulse mode, this signal has low/high voltage levels, representing two
directions of motor rotation; in CW/CCW mode (set by inside jumper CN6), this signal is
counter-clock (CCW) pulse. For reliable motion response, DIR signal should be ahead of PUL
signal by 5μs at least. 4-5V when DIR-HIGH, 0-0.5V when DIR-LOW. Please note that
rotation direction is also related to motor-drive wiring match. Exchanging the connection of
two wires for a coil to the drive will reverse motion direction.
Pulse signal: In single pulse (pulse/direction) mode, this input represents pulse signal, each
rising edge active ; 4-5V when PUL-HIGH, 0-0.5V when PUL-LOW. In CCW mode (set by
inside jumper CN6), this input represents clockwise (CW) pulse. For reliable response, pulse
width should be longer than 2.5μs.
Enable signal: This signal is used for enabling/disabling the drive. By default,it is usually left
UNCONNECTED (ENABLED). It is an optocoupler isolated input that accepts a 5-24V(1K
for +12V, 2k for +24V) single-ended or differential signal. When the optocoupler is turned-on,
the drive is deactivated. All the pulses will shut down, and the motor will be free. When the
optocoupler input is turned-off, the drive is activated.
