This manual is intended to help the user easily operate this product and make full use of its functions during operation. Before connecting or operating your unit, read this operation manual thoroughly to ensure you understand the product.

  • Page 4 The HVS-49PSM power supply unit is specifically designed for the HVS-490. A standard HVS-490 comes with a single power supply unit installed into one of its two power slots. The optional HVS-49PSM power supply unit allows you to operate the unit continuously, even if one power supply unit fails.
  • Page 5 2-3. Installing the Redundant Power Supply Unit Unpack the redundant power supply unit from its packing. Align and carefully insert the power supply unit into the slot. Make sure the unit is inserted completely and properly, then tighten the screws on both sides as shown below.
  • Page 6 3. Replacing Power Supply Units 3-1. Removing the Front Panel Loosen the two screws on the front panel as shown below, then remove the panel. Screw Screw 3-2. Removing a Power Supply Unit Loosen the two screws securing the power unit (with problem) as shown below. Grasp gently pull the broken power supply unit, grasping the screws, straight out, until it is completely removed from the unit.
  • Page 7 3-4. Reinstalling the Front Panel Replace the front panel onto the front of the unit, then tighten the screws from Section 3-1, above. Connect the AC cords, then turn both of the power supply switches on. Verify that the power indicator POWER LED is lit green while ALARM LED is unlit. IMPORTANT Contact your sales representative if ALARM LED is lit red, which indicates an alarm in the power supply unit or cooling fan.
