OBH Nordica knife sharpener SharpX-treme
Before use
Before using the appliance for the first time, read the instruction manual carefully and save
it for future use.
OBH Nordica SharpX-treme is an electric knife-sharpener with one sharpening wheel with
diamond coating for shaping of the knife edges on very dull knives, and one sharpening
wheel with ceramic pins that maintain the sharpness of your knives.
The appliance is equipped with two unique sharpening-wheels, where the knife is sharpened
by 20 ceramic pins that are positioned crosswise. The pins guarantees a careful and efficient
sharpening that forms the knife-edge in a correct angle.
The sharpening-wheels are a Swedish patented invention.
Use
Place the appliance on a steady even surface and connect the plug to a wall socket.
Collect the knife/knives to be sharpened.
If you only need to maintain the sharpness of your knife you should use the left wheel with
ceramic pins.
If your knife is very dull you should first use the right sharpening wheel with diamond
coating to shape the edge and thereafter polish the sharpness with the left wheel with
ceramic pins for perfect finish. Note that the diamond wheel should only be used when
sharpness is not achieved when using the ceramic wheel.
Press down the switch-button with left-hand thumb and hold the knife in our right hand.
Note! The wheels start rotating when you press the switch and stops when you release.
Keep your fingers away from the knife to avoid injury! Never stick your fingers into
the rotating wheels.
Place the blade (where the blade begins, by the handle) into the wheel with a slight
pressure and pull it slowly, during approx. 3-4 seconds, towards you. Check the sharpness
after 3 to 5 times. Repeat until desired sharpness is achieved. Release the switch-button.
The appliance is equipped with a safety system that automatically shuts off the appliance
if it gets over heated. If this happens, wait at least 20 minutes before using the appliance
again.
For best result
It's important to position the knife straight in the track during sharpening and do
PRESS the knife down. Pull it through the wheel with a slight pressure.
If you press too hard the blade of the knife will run against the black edge of the wheel
and this may cause marks on the blade. This applies especially knives with frosted/matt
blades.
Wipe off the knife-blade after the sharpening is finished.
The sharpening-wheel works on both stainless steel and carbon steel.
Do not use with serrated knives, scissors or ceramic knives.
