TESTING AND TROUBLESHOOTING
This chapter contains procedures to check that the RJ45 adapter is
properly connected to the network and is functioning properly.
Also provided in this chapter, are instructions for using Cabletron Sys-
tems LANVIEW LEDs to troubleshoot network problems in the physical
layer.

4.1 Installation Checkout

This section contains procedures to test the CTP100T adapter after it
has been installed to ensure that the physical layer of the network is op-
erating properly.
For the procedures in this section, you need two Ethernet node testers
capable of generating valid data packets, such as Cabletron Systems
LAN-MD, and a Cabletron Systems 10BASE-T Twisted Pair Transceiv-
er, such as the TPT, TPT-T, or the TPT-4.
To test the CTP100T adapter, refer to Figure 4-1 and proceed as follows:
1.
Connect a LAN-MD
(such as a TPT), using an AUI cable
2.
Connect the 10BASE-T twisted pair transceiver
over twisted pair segment
3.
If it is not already attached, connect the twisted pair segment
the CTP100T adapter
