■ Provisionally position the lower timber
parallel to the lower row of tiles (tie a
line as a guide).
■ It may be necessary to remove exist-
ing battens from around the timbers.
Support the dividing point between the
batten and the timber.
■ If cantilevers are created, support
them with an on-site batten.
■ It is essential to secure timbers along
the entire length with two screws for
every rafter.
