Backing up a Customized Vocabulary File using iTunes

Important! Before starting this procedure, see "Connecting to a Computer for the First Time" on page 18.
1. Connect the device to the computer and open iTunes on the computer.
2. On the device, select Vocab and then select Choose New Vocab.
3. Select Menu and select Import/Export Vocab.
4. Select Export to iTunes and select the vocabulary you want to back up.
5. If necessary, give the file a different name and select Save. "Exporting Vocab" will appear briefly.
6. In iTunes on the computer, select the device icon in the upper left corner.
7. In the window that opens on the left, select File Sharing.
8. In the Apps column, select the Words for Life app.
9. From the column under Words for Life Documents, choose the vocabulary file you want to back up.
10. Select the Save button at the bottom right and browse to a folder to save the file.
11. Choose Select Folder. The file will be saved to the selected folder.
12. Select Done to close File Sharing.

Integrated Devices: Backing up a Vocabulary File using AirDrop or Email

1. In the WFL app, select the Vocab and select Choose New Vocab.
2. Select Menu and select Import/Export Vocab.
3. Select Export and Share.
4. Select the vocabulary file you want to share.
5. Select Done and select the share method you want to use.
AirDrop: Bluetooth
on and can accept your file. Choose the device you want.
Mail: Requires an email account set up on the device and access to Wi-Fi.

Integrated Devices: Backing up a Vocabulary File using Dropbox

1. In the WFL app, select Vocab and select Choose New Vocab.
2. Select Menu and select Import/Export Vocab.
3. Select Dropbox and select Export to Dropbox.
Note: If you do not have the Dropbox software installed on your iPad device, you will be directed to
sign into your Dropbox account.
4. Select the vocabulary file you would like to export and select Upload. "Exporting Vocab" will appear,
followed by "Upload Complete". Select Okay to close the message.
