because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or
heavy mechanical stress.
• Keep the recessed light out of the reach of children! There is a danger of a lethal
electric shock.
• The device is designed according to safety class I. The protective earth must be
connected.
• The recessed lamp should only to be operated with a 230V~/50Hz voltage supply.
Never attempt to operate the recessed lamp with a different voltage, this may
cause its destruction.
• Do not use the recessed lamp in rooms or under adverse ambient conditions
where combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present!
• The recessed light is protected according to IP54.
Where the number „5" indicates complete protection against contact with hot or
internal parts and complete protection against dust accumulation.
The second number „4" indicates protection from water spray. Water spray from
any direction should not damage the equipment.
• To avoid eye injury, do not look at the light source or point the light at persons or
animals.
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, disconnect
the device immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation.
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
- the device shows visible signs of damage
- the device no longer operates
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- the device was exposed to extraordinary stress caused by transport.

Please note:
• Due to the protection class IP54, the product can be installed and operated in unprotected
outdoor locations.
• The recessed light must be secured on the distribution board, provided by customer, by a
10/16A fuse. An earth leakage circuit breaker must be installed before this (FI protective
switch).
• The power must be disconnected, during the installation of the recessed light. It is not
sufficient to just turn off at the light switch!
Turn the power off and remove the electric circuit fuse or switch off the circuit breaker. Secure
it against an unauthorised re-start, e.g. with a danger sign. In addition, switch off the
associated earth-leakage circuit breaker.
• Check that the mains connection is current free with a suitable tester.

Installation

a) Use of the mounting sleeve
• Choose an appropriate position for installing the mounting sleeve.
Check the correct height of the stainless steel cover for the recessed light before securing it
and insert the mounting sleeve proportionally (e. g. when setting in concrete).
• Run the connection cable for the recessed light through the mounting sleeve.
• Connect the recessed light's power cable to the mains voltage (brown cable = L, blue cable =
N, green/yellow cable = PE/earth).
• Use a suitable connection box with a terminal block to connect the recessed light's power cable
to the mains lead.
If you wish to use the connection box provided, remove the 4 screws from the housing cover
and then remove the housing cover. Following this, the grommet nut must be unscrewed for
each power cable and the metal disc and the rubber gasket must be removed.
Pass the power cable through the grommet nut, the metal disc and the rubber gasket, into the
housing of the connection box to the cable clamp inside the terminal box and perform the
required connections.
However, do not cut into the rubber gasket too much, otherwise it may not seal effectively.
Finally, tighten all the grommet nuts and close the connection box again.
• Unscrew the Allen screws from the stainless steel cover and remove it.
The recessed light can then be screwed into the mounting sleeve, using suitable screws.
• Replace the stainless steel cover and tighten it again.
• Switch on the mains voltage, and make sure that the recessed light is functioning.
The recessed light may only be installed by a qualified technician who is
familiar with the relevant regulations (e.g. VDE, German electrical wiring
regulations)!
Improper work, carried out on the mains voltage, endangers not only your life
but also the life of others!
If you do not have the expertise required for the installation, do not install it
yourself but ask a qualified technician.
When installed in outdoor locations, the recessed light must only be mounted on ver-
tical walls or in the ceiling (e. g. in a garage or carport). It must not be mounted on
the floor, and it is not suitable for operation in or under water.
Keep sufficient distance to the floor when performing a wall installation, so that no
stagnant or flowing water can reach the recessed light!
There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
Please pay attention to the information in the chapter „Preparations for
Installation"!
Pay attention to the correct arrangement of the mounting sleeve, if you wish to use
several recessed lights, so that later the Allen screws on the stainless steel covers
for all the recessed lights have the same alignment!
Make sure the power cable is not damaged by the sharp edges of the mounting
sleeve!
The protective earth from the recessed lamp must be connected! Where the
recessed light is to replace an existing light and there is no protective earth available,
the recessed light must not be installed. First, draw a new mains cable.
Where the protective earth is not connected, a fault with the mains voltage might
result in the light's metal housing becoming live. There is a risk of a life-threatening
electric shock!
Make sure you use the correct holes in the recessed light (holes without a screw
thread)!
If the LEDs do not light up, immediately switch off the mains power (take out the fuse
or switch off at the circuit breaker).
Thereafter, check the recessed light's connections.
In case of doubt, contact a professional (e.g. an electrician).
