Note
The stem surface is roller-burnished. Do not
reface the stem.
After replacing the diaphragm stem, the nip-
ple (guide bushing) in the actuator case must
be replaced as well.
Disassembling Type 2424 Actuator
1. Put the regulator out of operation (see
section 10.1).
2. Unscrew the control lines from the dia-
phragm actuator and undo the coupling
nuts (11).
3. Remove the diaphragm actuator from the
valve.
4. Clamp the diaphragm actuator into a
vise with the side which is connected to
the valve facing downward.
5. Relieve the tension from the set point
springs (16) by turning the set point ad-
juster (17) counterclockwise ().
6. Pull off the set point springs (16) and set
point adjuster (17).
7. Loosen the screws (15). Remove the top
diaphragm case ('+' chamber) of the ac-
tuator casing.
8. Take the internal springs out of the '+'
chamber.
9. Pull the operating diaphragm assembly,
consisting of the diaphragm plate (19),
operating diaphragm (13), diaphragm
stem (12.2) and excess pressure relief
unit, out of the actuator housing.
EB 3013 EN
10. Pull the force limiter (20) together with
the diaphragm stem (12.1) out of the ac-
tuator housing.
11. Check the screw fittings for dirt and
clean them, if necessary.
Note
The stem surface is roller-burnished. Do not
reface the stem.
After replacing the diaphragm stem, the nip-
ple (guide bushing) in the actuator case must
be replaced as well.
Assembly of Type 2428 Actuator
1. Apply lubricant to the diaphragm stem
(12.1). See section 8.2.
2. Insert the operating diaphragm assem-
bly, consisting of the diaphragm plate
(19), operating diaphragm (13) and dia-
phragm stem (12.1), into the actuator
housing.
3. Check the facings of the actuator hous-
ing for dirt and clean them, if necessary.
4. Place on the diaphragm case ('+' cham-
ber) and tighten the screws (15) evenly.
Observe tightening torque specified in
section 8.2.
5. Place the diaphragm actuator on the
valve and fasten tight the control lines
and the coupling nut (11). Observe tight-
ening torque specified in section 8.2.
6. Put the regulator into operation (see sec-
tion 6.5).
