Transducer damping mats are mounted to counteract the propagation of ultrasonic waves in the pipe wall.

The coupling foil can be fixed to the contact surface with a small amount of coupling compound.

  • Page 56 6 Installation 6.2 Transducers FLUXUS G809 6.2.3.6 Mounting with PermaFiX In explosive atmospheres of FM Class I, Division 1, the transducer mounting fixture PermaFiX has to be used, see Fig. 6.53. When measuring in reflection arrangement, the transducers are installed on the same side of the pipe. If the transducer distance is small, both transducers are mounted into one rail.

The degree of protection of the transmitter is only ensured if all cables are tightly fitted using cable glands and the housing is firmly screwed.

    7 Connection FLUXUS G809 7.2 Power supply Power supply Connection The installation of the power supply is carried out by the operator. The operator has to provide an overcurrent protector (fuse or similar device) disconnecting all energizing wires in case of an inadmissible high current consumption. The imped- ance of the protective earth has to be low ohmic in order not to allow touch voltage pass the permissible limit.

    8 Start-up 8.1 Start-up settings FLUXUS G809 Notice! The transmitter and transducers have to be checked to ensure proper condition and operational safety before each use. The transmitter housing must always be closed during operation. Observe that maintenance work must be con- cluded.

    8 Start-up FLUXUS G809 8.2 Switching on Switching on As soon as the transmitter is connected to the power supply, it is displayed which transducer has been detected at which channel. Afterwards, the serial number of the transmitter is displayed for a short time.
