The built-in child restraint may be cleaned with mild soap and luke-
warm water. Do not use household cleaners. They may weaken the
belts or damage plastic parts.
Keep the built-in child restraint belts clean and dry. Clean the belts
with only a mild soap and lukewarm water. Never bleach or dye the
belts because this could seriously affect their strength.
The removable pad is attached to the child restraint cushion and seat-
back with hook and loop fasteners (VelcroR). It is possible to remove
the pad, hand wash it in cold water and dry it in the shade. Never
bleach or iron the pad.
Periodically inspect the belts, tongue plates, buckle, clip, retractor
and anchorages of the built-in child restraint. If these parts are dam-
aged and/or do not function properly, contact your authorized
SUBARU dealer for replacement parts.
*SRS airbag
(Supplemental Restraint System airbag)
*SRS: This stands for supplemental restraint system. This name is used
because the airbag system supplements the vehicle's seatbelts.
J Vehicle with driver's and front passenger's SRS air-
bags and lap/shoulder restraints
WARNING
D To obtain maximum protection in the event of an accident, the
driver and all passengers in the vehicle should always wear seat-
belts when the vehicle is moving. The SRS airbag is designed
only as a supplement to the primary protection provided by the
seatbelt. It does not do away with the need to fasten seatbelts. In
combination with the seatbelts, it offers the best combined
protection in case of a serious accident.
Not wearing a seatbelt increases the chance of severe injury or
death in a crash even when the car has the SRS airbag.
