REASON
Areas of poor quality terrain data quality in Greenland may adversely effect the TAWS/Terrain Alerting
and SVT (Synthetic Vision Technology) functions.
This service letter transmits Garmin Service Advisory No. 1107 and Garmin Terrain Data Alert - Anomalies
in Greenland Terrain Data, which informs pilots to use extra caution and awareness of the surrounding
terrain when flying within 30 nautical miles of the following airports:
BGCO (Nerlerit Inaat, Greenland)
BGQQ (Qaanaaq, Greenland)
BGSF (Kangerlussuaq, Greenland)
BGSS (Sisimiut, Greenland)
BGUQ (Uummannaq, Greenland)
NOTE: A future database release for the G1000 System will correct this issue.

- Page 5 Terrain Data Alert Owners/Operators of all Garmin Aviation Products using a Terrain Database DATE: 01 March 2011 SUBJECT: Anomalies in Greenland Terrain Data DESCRIPTION Garmin has confirmed anomalies in the current Terrain Database 10T1 and all prior versions of the Terrain Database in the vicinity of the below listed airports. These anomalies may cause nuisance TAWS/Terrain alerts and affect other functionality such as Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT) and Electronic Stability Protection (ESP).
