CHAPTER 4: AUGER HOUSING COMPONENTS

Auger Housing Components
To remove/replace the shave plate:
1.
Drain the fuel from the fuel tank.
2.
Tip the snow thrower back enough to access the
shave plate.
NOTE: Laying the snow thrower on its back will cause the
engine cylinder to fill with oil.
3.
Remove the three nuts and carriage bolts (indicated
by the arrows in Figure 4.1.) that hold the shave plate
to the auger housing using a 7/16" wrench.
NOTE: The shave plate is reversible. If both sides of the
shave plate is worn, then replace it.
4.
Install the shave plate by following the previous steps
in reverse order.
5.
Test run the snow thrower in a safe area before
returning it to service.
To remove/replace the upper discharge chute:
1.
Remove the wing nut and carriage bolt that holds the
left side of the upper chute to the lower chute.
2.
Remove the nut and the carriage bolt that holds the
right side of the upper chute to the lower chute using
a 1/2" wrench. See Figure 4.2.
3.
Install the upper chute by following the previous
steps in reverse order.
NOTE: Do not apply grease to the inside surface of the
upper chute or the outside surface of the lower
chute.
