4. Turn the adjusting nut (3) on both the
right and left chain adjusters an equal
number of turns to increase or decrease
chain slack.
Align the front edge of chain adjusters
(4) with the graduated scales (5) on both
sides of the swingarm.
If the drive chain slack is excessive when
the rear axle is moved to the furthest limit
of adjustment, the drive chain is worn and
must be replaced.
5. Tighten the rear axle nut to:
64 N·m (6.5 kgf·m, 47 lbf·ft)
6. Tighten the adjusting nuts lightly, then
tighten the lock nuts by holding the
adjusting nuts with a spanner.
7. Recheck drive chain slack.
8. Rear brake pedal freeplay is affected
when repositioning the rear wheel to
adjust drive chain slack. Check rear
brake pedal freeplay and adjust as
necessary (page 27).

If a torque wrench is not used for this
installation, see your dealer as soon as
possible to verify proper assembly.

Lubrication:

Lubricate every 500 km (300 miles) or
sooner if chain appers dry.
Recommended lubricant:
Drive chain lubricant
If not available, use SAE 80 or 90 gear oil.
Saturate each chain link joint so that the
lubricant penetrates between the link plates,
pins, bushings, and rollers.
