Servicing

Risk of injuries.
¾ Never saw the tree trunk all the way
through.
¾ The area N  [C]   is used as a "hinge" and
provides a defined direction of fall.
¾ When felling, stand only at the side of
the tree to be felled!
Pull stroke sawing
O
With this technique the underside of the cutting bar
saws from top to bottom.
The saw chain pushes the device forwards away
from the user. The front edge of the device forms a
support which absorbs the forces which occur when
sawing on the tree trunk.
In pull stroke sawing the user has much more
control over the device and can better avoid kick-
backs. It is therefore preferable to use this sawing
technique.
Push stroke sawing
P
With this technique the upper side of the cutting bar
saws from bottom to top. The saw chain pushes the
device backwards towards the user. If the cutting
bar jams, the device may be thrown back towards
the user with great force.
Trunks lying flat on the ground
Cut halfway into the trunk, then turn around and saw
through from the opposite side.
Attention!
When sawing through the trunk, ensure that the
cutting bar does not touch the ground!
Supported trunks Q
We recommend supporting trunks, which are to be
sawn through, on sawhorses. If this is not possible,
the trunk should be raised and supported with the
aid of the supporting branches or via support blocks.
In area [A] first cut approx. one third of the trunk
diameter from top to bottom, then complete the cut
from bottom to top.
In area [B]   first cut approx. one third of the trunk
diameter from bottom to top, then cut through from
the top.
Risk of injuries.
ÂSplintering wood or a jammed cutting bar
may result in extremely serious injuries!
¾ Do not saw trunks which are under
tension!

Removing branches
R
Always work on the side opposite the branch in
Î
question.
Start at the bottom of the trunk and work upwards.
Î
Always guide the saw from top to bottom through
Î
the wood.
When limbing trunks lying flat on the ground, first
Î
always saw off the branches pointing upwards. Do
not cut through supporting branches until the trunk
has been sawn into lengths.
Risk of injuries.
¾ Branches which are supported or under
tension may wedge the saw chain in the
wood!
Sawing with the spirit level A
The chainsaw is fitted with a spirit level [G] to ensure a
better vertical straight cut.
Note
Use the spirit level to align the chainsaw
before cutting.
Switch on the device and let it run at full speed.
Î
Place the lower tip of the chainsaw behind the
Î
area of the initial cut.
Note
Do not alter the cutting angle once you have
started a cut and made a notch in the ma-
terial. Changing the angle bends the cutting
bar.
Servicing
Risk of injuries or material damage.
¾ Only clean or service the device if the
motor is stationary and also the cutting
tool.
¾ Always remove the power pack prior to
working on the device.
¾ Repair and service work as well as the
replacement of safety elements must
be performed by a qualified expert or
workshop.
¾ Wear safety gloves before any work on
the chain.
¾ Always take the chainsaw to a service
centre for sharpening.
Prior to each instance of use, check that the chain
Î
brake is working flawlessly.
Always check the chain tension before each use
Î
and check it regularly when using the chainsaw
for long periods.
