excess oil from the outer surfaces of saws and bars. Chain recommend to put into a container with
mineral oil. Before using a new chain saw must necessarily re‐pour the oil and mount the chain and bar.
Before transporting your chain saw, always unplug it from the wall outlet and the guide rail and thread
the chain guard. If you use a saw to transport a vehicle, place it so that it could endanger persons and
firmly fix the vehicle.
Chain Care (Fig. 5‐B)
Ensure correct chain tension. Loose chain can jump out of operation and lead to injury.
If damaged, the chain must be replaced immediately. Minimum length of the upper surface of the
cutting teeth must be at least 5 mm.
Check after each use a chain saw teeth sharpness. Dull chain leads to a higher load and engine
overheating ‐ dull chain, replace it with a sharp and keep it sharpened.
As for sharpening chain saws are needed specific expertise, it is recommended to leave sharpening
workshop.
In the case of hand‐grinding chain wear protective gloves and use file pr. 4 mm (the division of the
chain 3/8 "x 0.050"). Chain regrind from the inside edge outwards with respect to the values indicated
in the figures. Just one to two strokes with a file for each cutting tooth. Every 3‐4 manual grinding is
necessary to check and possibly grind foot depth limiter with a flat file and a special template that is
available as optional equipment. Parameters for the maintenance of chain are shown the table of Fig.
5‐A.
Guide Bar Care (Fig. 5‐C, 5‐D, 5‐E)
Guide bar groove and lubrication holes must be kept clean with a scraper (Fig. 5‐C), which is available
as optional equipment.
Any burrs on guide bar (Fig. 5‐C) remove by flat file.
Guide bar sprocket should be regularly lubricated with grease using a mechanical press (fig. 5‐D). Also,
make sure the guide bar sprocket rotates freely.
Turn the guide bar every 8 operating hours (Fig. 5‐E) to distribute the wear on both side of bar, thus
extending bar life.
