  • Page 4 The plug must be removed from the socket before the water reservoir is filled with water. The iron must be used and placed on a stable surface. If the iron is placed on a stand, it must be ensured that the surface on which the stand is positioned is stable.
  • Page 5 Ensure that the socket is well-accessible, so that you can remove the mains plug quickly, if necessary. Do not use the iron: - the appliance or the accessories are damaged, - the power cable or plug are damaged, - the appliance has fallen on the floor. Ensure that the power cable cannot be damaged by sharp edges or hot items, e.g.

Caution – property damage Only use the iron for ironing textiles that are intended and suitable for this. If you are uncertain whether the textile is suitable for a selected setting, first iron in a place that is not visible, as a test.

  • Page 8: Prior To Initial Use

    Prior to initial use Unpacking Remove the iron from the box and remove the packaging. Remove the cardboard cover from the soleplate. Wipe the soleplate with a soft cloth. Note The cardboard cover protects the soleplate during transport. After removal, it can be disposed of, if no longer required.

    Prior to ironing, check whether there is sufficient water in the tank and add more prior to ironing, if necessary. This way, you will not need to interrupt ironing to refill with water. This is safer and saves time. Remove the mains plug from the socket and allow the iron to cool off completely. Slide the steam controller all the way to the right to the position marked 0.

  • Page 11 Dry ironing Slide the steam controller to the 0 symbol. Iron the laundry as soon as the orange control lamp goes off. Note Do not iron over metal buttons, zippers, etc. This could scratch the soleplate. Steam ironing HAZARD The escaping steam is very hot. Do not touch it. Heat up the iron, see page 10.
  • Page 12 The steam shot function is only available in the top temperature range. This is marked accordingly on the temperature control knob. The steam shot function can be used for steam ironing and dry ironing, in order to e.g. smooth stubborn creases or obtain firm ironing creases.
  • Page 13 Note Fabrics such as polyacrylic, acetate-polyamide mixed fabrics and similar must not be treated with the steam shot. Please note the care information and symbols in the textiles to be ironed. Textiles that are labelled with care symbols are marked on the iron can usually be treated.

    Information on the anti-limescale system In order to extend the life of the iron, an anti-limescale cartridge is installed. It reduces the limescale formation/deposits from escaping steam. This is cleaned using a self-cleaning system. However, the formation of limescale will not be entirely prevented by the anti- limescale cartridge.

    Cleaning the iron CAUTION Do not clean the iron with metal sponges, abrasive or scratching detergents. These could damage the soleplate. Wipe the iron with a slightly dampened cloth. Stains can also be removed from the soleplate with a slightly dampened cloth. For further care of the soleplate, you can use commercially available care products (available from specialist retailers).

    Conformity Declaration The conformity of the product with the legally prescribed standards is guaranteed. The full conformity declaration can be found on the Internet at www.gt-support.de. Recycling Dispose of the packaging by separating the different materials. Check with your local waste elimination company with regard to the required measures for scrapping if the appliance is no longer required.

    Warranty Model: Steam Iron GT-SI-01-UK The appliance has been manufactured with the greatest care. The warranty period is three years from the date of purchase. Please retain the sales receipt as proof of purchase as without it the warranty claim cannot be processed. During the warranty period, the sales receipt and the completed warranty card with a description of the fault must be returned once you have contacted the service centre by phone.
