Managing Duplicate Contacts

Finding Duplicate Contacts

Your file may contain duplicate contacts: contacts with the same first and last
names (or with no first or last name, but the same company name). This can
occur, for example, if you:
•
Scan more than one card for the same contact.
•
Import contacts already in the file.
•
Scan a contact's card and enter the contact manually.
Duplicates are contacts with the same first and last name or, in the absence of
first and last names, with the same company name. If all the information in
duplicate contacts is identical, they are called "exact duplicates".
You can find, compare, and delete duplicate contacts, as follows:

Open the file to search for duplicates.
2.
Choose Card→Find Duplicates.
If there are no duplicate contacts, the message "No duplicate cards
were found" appears. Click OK.
If there are duplicate contacts, the following dialog appears:

Compare pairs of duplicate contacts and decide which one to delete.
