Instructions for use

Before using

Read the instructions carefully. They
contain important information for the
use, safety and maintenance of the
appliance. Keep them in a safe
place and transfer them to a possi-
ble succeeding user. Only use the
appliance for the purpose mentioned
in these instruccions. When using
pay particular attention to the follo-
wing safety advice.

Safety advice

· Only connect the appliance to alter-
nating current - with a rated voltage
according to the rating plate - to a
correctly installed earthed socket.
Cord and plug must be completely
dry.
· The cord must not come in contact
with any hot parts of the appliance.
· Only use an extension cord in per-
fect condition.
Make sure that the cord is long
enough and properly installed.
· When in use the appliance has to
be put on the table, do not operate
it close to a wall or in a corner.
· Do not use the appliance in the
outside.
· If the following happens do not use
the appliance and unplug it imme-
diately:
- the appliance or cord is
damaged
- any defect after the appliance has
accidently dropped or something
similar is suspected.
In these cases have the appliance
repaired.
· Do not leave any empty pans in the
appliance during warm - up or ope-
ration.
· Caution: the appliance will
become hot during use, scalding
danger! Do not transport the appli-
ance when it is still hot.
· Do not operate the appliance with-
out the grill top as the red - hot
heating element is exposed.
· When grilling fat inevitably spits.
Therefore protect the table accor-
dingly.
· Keep out of reach from children.
· This appliance is not meant to be
used by persons (including children)
with reduced physical, sensorial or
mental capacities or in absence of
the necessary experience and/or
knowledge - unless they are super-
vised by a person responsible for
their safety and from whom they
get instructions on how to use the
appliance.
· Disconnect the appliance in these
situations:
- any malfunction during operation
- prior to cleaning and main-
tenance
- after use.
· Do not immerse the appliance in
water.
· In the case of misuse or wrong
handling or incorrect repair no liabi-
lity will be taken for possible dama-
ges. Claims under guarantee are
also excluded in such cases.
· The appliance is not designed for
commercial purposes.
· In order to avoid injury, any repairs
to the appliance as well as the
exchange of a damaged connection
cord should only be carried out by
the manufacturer, his authorised
service agent or a person having
similar qualifications. Substantial
dangers for the user can appear
from inappropriate repairs.
Usage
The raclette appliance is the center
of a pleasurable social meal with
each person at the table preparing
his / her own gourmet pan.
It is not only the typical Swiss raclette
meal consisting of raclette cheese
and potatoes boiled in their jackets
you can feast on but also other spe-
cialities that may be prepared in the
pans. Let your imagination guide
you.
Sausages, skewers or steaks can be
grilled at the same time on the grill
top. An additional touch is achieved
when covering the food with a slice
of cheese and baking it „au gratin".
Make sure that the raclette meal is
served on preheated plates.

Putting into operation

Before first use clean the pans and
the grill top with hot water and a
small quantity of washing-up liquid.
Rub dry carefully afterwards. Spread
a few drops of oil onto the grill top
and rub the grill top.
If excessive oil is used during prepa-
ration or during grilling, it may burn
into the grilling plate. It will not be
easy to remove this burnt oil afterwards.
Before starting, heat up the appliance
for 10 minutes with the grilling bowl
but without the pans.
Model with switch:
Connect the cord to the socket. After
switching the appliance on the con-
trol lamp indicates that the appliance
starts to heat.
Model with control unit:
As soon as the plug is connected,
the red control lamp indicates that
the appliance is connected to the
mains supply. Switch the control unit
for preheating and grilling to the
highest degree. If you want to prepare
a raclette, choose a lower setting
according to the kind of ingredients.
If the control unit is adjusted to the
lower third, the food can be kept warm.
The appliance cannot be switched
off at the control unit!
Appliances with non-stick coated
grill top:
For preparing the food always use a
wooden spatula. Do not use any
