Load plain Letter/A4

Pull paper tray#1 (the upper tray)
completely out of the machine.
Note
• When you use Legal, A3 or Ledger size paper,
press and hold the universal guide release
button as you slide out the front of paper

tray#1.
• When you load a different paper size in tray#1
or tray#2, you will need to change the paper
size setting in the machine at the same time.
(See Paper Size and Type in Chapter 3 of the
User's Guide.)

Open the paper tray cover a.

DO NOT push the paper in too far.

With both hands, gently press and slide the
paper side guides and then the paper length

guide to fit the paper size you are loading in

the tray.
Make sure that the triangular marks
paper side guides and paper length guide
a
line up with the mark for the paper size you are
using.

Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams
and misfeeds.
Gently put the paper into paper tray#1 print
side down and top edge first. Check that the
paper is flat in the tray.
Gently adjust the paper side guides to the
paper with both hands. Make sure that the
paper side guides touch the edges of the
paper.
