The Model 2820A-4003 & 2820A-4003E are used in conjunction with a chamber talk back speaker i.e., the Amron Model 3113, 3114, 3115, 3125 or 3126. The Model 2820A-4003E is exactly the same as the 2820A-4003, but also includes a separate entertainment channel, amplifier.
The entertainment audio output is connected to a separate speaker within the chamber, i.e., the Amron model 3130. Stereo input connections (RCA jacks) are provided on the back panel for connection to the desired audio entertainment source. The audio source can be audio (music) from any source i.e., AM, FM, tape recorder, CD player, TV or other source as desired.

Before using the AMCOM II chamber communications system, you should familiarize yourself with its operating controls and connections. Improper use of controls and connections may deprive the user of the full benefit of this communication system. Reference: Figure 1 & 2 Front Panel model 2820A-4003 and 2820A-4003E. OPERATOR CONTROLS Power Switch Turns unit on/off, applies power to the unit from internal rechargeable batteries or from external source.

CONTROLS & CONNECTIONS 2820A-4003 PUSH TO TALK MICROPHONE...
The push to talk microphone has two dual banana plugs. Insert the yellow banana plug into the yellow jacks, (push to talk jacks on front of 2820A-4003). Insert the black dual banana plug into the black jacks, (jacks labeled headset on the front of the 2820A-4003). A microphone holder is provided on the front panel to facilitate storage of the microphone when not being used.
This permits a three party conversation similar to that of a telephone. You may find it necessary to turn off the 2820A-4003 speaker while the operator is using a headset. A feedback condition can occur while using a headset (headset microphone is receiving the sound from the speaker causing the feedback) it will depend upon two factors, the volume level and the distance between the headset and the speaker.
INSTALLATION & OPERATION DESCRIPTION OF OPERATOR CONTROLS Power On - Off - this switch controls power to the unit. This switch does not disable the battery charging circuit. The battery condition indicator should come on when this switch is in the ON position.
THEORY OF OPERATION AMPLIFIER CARD 2832-202 Refer to the functional block diagram (figure 6) and schematics (figure 7 and 8) while reading this section. INPUT AMPLIFIER CIRCUIT - U1, U2 and U3, are differential input amplifiers, which accept dynamic microphone and Pre-Amplifier Microphone, level signals (0.1 to 50mV) and amplify them. Signals common to both inputs are rejected.
THEORY OF OPERATION BATTERY CHARGER CARD, 2324-202 The 2324-202 converts the AC power to a regulated DC voltage to operate the unit and charges the batteries. The charger card consists of Primary and Secondary Circuits, these two separated circuits are connected together through step down transformer. The step down transformer is a split bobbin design with a high insulation level that prevents dangerous leakage currents passing from the primary to secondary winding.
3. Talk from the inner lock with a headset, turn speaker off if there is a switch on the inner lock speaker. You should hear yourself talk. This verifies inner lock operation. Use Amron Model 2460-31R headset.
MAINTENANCE TROUBLE SHOOTING (Continued) Operator Circuit Check (Continued) 4. If you do not hear yourself talk, verify the lock switch is on and the volume controls are set properly. This type of problem could have two causes, a problem between the inner lock jack and the communicator (i.e., a loose connection, broken wire, or a shorted circuit) or a problem within the unit itself.

(rechargeable) is 10.0 volts; the battery should not be operated below this point as permanent damage will occur. The rechargeable batteries used in the Amron communicators are a gel cell design. The battery capacity is 7.0 amp/hr; the quiescent current of the 2820-4003 is approx. 0.250 amps.
DRAWINGS & SCHEMATICS GENERAL The following drawings illustrate the electrical and mechanical details of the lock communication unit. The corresponding parts lists for each drawing are detailed in the parts lists section. Revisions As drawings are updated, information about changes is incorporated into a revision sheet. This revision sheet appears in the manual immediately after the drawings.
