Looking at the flame color, shape and stability has been used as a “rule of thumb” for many years but eyeballing will not allow you to opti- mize the efficiency, safety, or environmental compliance of your equipment.

Combustion air openings (vents, flues, exhausts and ducts) must be kept open, clean and free of blockages such as dirt, dust, lint and trash.
