Trimming Edges

Run the trimmer along the edge of the lawn as shown
in figure F. Do not allow the cutting line to contact
paved surfaces or garden walls, since this will wear
the line rapidly.

Use handle position IV for edging.
Cutting Around Trees and Bushes
Carefully cut around trees and bushes so that they
do not come into contact with the cutting line.
Plants can die if you damage the bark.
For better control use guide handle 3 or adjustable
handle 4.

Feeding the Line

The rotating line can wear or break. You will notice
when the motor runs without load and no grass is cut.

Switch off the machine and remove plug
from the mains.
The line must be fed manually:
Hold the spool plate 14 in position, lift the line up and
pull it out approx. 9 cm counter-clockwise. Clasp the
line between the studs of the spool plate as shown in
figure G.
If the line is exceeding the maximum cutting circle it
will be cut by the blade 15 integrated in the cutting
guard 8.

Model ART 23 GF/GFS/GFSV
While operating the trimmer press and release the
trimmer firmly against a solid base such as a pave-
ment surface as shown in figure G2 (necessary pres-
sure approx. 3 kg). The spool will release approx.
4 cm of line per action.
When the line breaks off completely feed twice to re-
gain the full cutting circle.
If the line is exceeding the maximum cutting circle it
will be cut by the blade 15 integrated in the cutting
guard 8.
Model ART 25 GSA/GSAV/ERGOPOWER
While operating the trimmer the line will be fed auto-
matically when it breaks.

Maintenance

Stop and remove plug from the power
supply.

Replacing the Line Spool (Model ART 23 G)
Hold the spool plate 14 in position.
Turn the empty spool 16 counter-clockwise to re-
move.
Pull approx. 9 cm of line out of the new/refilled spool.
Screw the new/refilled spool on the spool plate as far
as possible, as shown in figure G1.
Clasp the line between the studs of the spool plate as
shown in figure G1.
Replacing the Line Spool

Hold the spool plate 14 in position.
Turn the spool cover 17 counter-clockwise and re-
move, as shown in figure H.
Take the empty spool 18 out from the spool cover.
Thread the line of the new/refilled spool through the
eyehole 19 and place the spool in the spool
cover 17.
Pull approx. 9 cm of line out of the spool.
Place spool with cover on the spool plate 17 in the
correct position (bayonet fastening), press down and
turn fully right, as shown in figure H.
Replacing the Line Spool

(Model ART 25 GSA/GSAV/ERGOPOWER)
Hold the spool plate 14 in position.
Press the locking tabs and remove the spool
cover 17.
Take the empty spool 18 out from the spool cover.
Place the new/refilled spool 18 in the spool plate 14
,the cord eyes 19 must rest in the slots of the spool
plate 14
Pull approx. 9 cm of line out of the spool.
Refit the spool cover 17 . A distinct latching must be
felt when pressed on.
Refilling Line

(Model ART 23 G/GF/GFS/GFSV)
Take out the spool 18 as described above.
Press the cover ring 20 together as shown in figure I,
push it forward and detach over the smaller diameter
of the spool.
