Windows Updates
As a customer, you have full control over the security of the HCP Anywhere
edge appliance. You need to apply Windows and antivirus security updates
to protect the Windows Server operating system from security
vulnerabilities. You can apply updates using a Windows Server Update
Services server or another acceptable method.
If a Microsoft security update on a customer-managed server causes an
issue with the HCP Anywhere edge device, Hitachi Vantara customer
support can help diagnose and resolve the problem.

Applying Windows updates

You can apply Windows security patches by downloading standalone
packages from the
In the Microsoft Update Catalog, use the Search field in the top right corner
of the page to find security monthly quality rollups for Windows Server
2016.
Tip: Before installing a patch, create a restore point. The restore point provides
a way to back out of the patch if the patch causes issues after being installed.
Installing antivirus software on the HCP Anywhere edge
appliance
Customers can use any antivirus software that supports Windows Server
2016 OS.
Note: When you install antivirus software:

It may impact read/write performance depending upon when the files
are scanned by the antivirus software.
•
To avoid issues introduced by the antivirus software, we recommend
you follow best practices as documented in the HCP Anywhere
Administrator Help and define an exclusion list on the HCP Anywhere
Management Console using Device Management so that the antivirus
software does not recall Stubbed (offline) files when running a
scheduled scan based on your company's security policy.
