6.1. Create a New Category

Audio Notes are saved in categories so you should first create at least one
category on your card or in the internal Audio Note book. If you neglect to
create a category then Victor Reader will place your audio note in a category
called Default. If this happens, you can later rename the Default category
using the Rename Category function.
To create a new category, do the following:
a) Use the Bookshelf key, Key 1, to select Internal Note Book or Card Note
Book.
b) Use the 2 and 8 keys to select category level.
c) Press the Record button and say the new category name. By default, the
new category is created at the end of the category folder list. However, if you
press and hold the Record key, then the new category is inserted before the
current category and the remaining category folders are renumbered.
d) Press the Play/Stop or Pound key to end the recording and save your new
category.
e) To cancel an operation in progress, press the * Key.
Category name recordings are limited to 30 seconds.
You can create up to a maximum of 99 categories.

note file is created at the end of the category folder. However, if you press
and hold the Record key, then the new note is inserted before the current
note and the remaining audio note files are renumbered.
f) Press the Play/Stop or Pound key to end the recording and save your audio
note.
g) To cancel an operation in progress, press the * Key.
You can create up to a maximum of 999 audio notes per category.
You may create an audio note without first positioning to the category.
