IMPORTANT:
If the computer will power on, before removing the heat sink, turn on the computer until it warms the heat sink.
Warming the heat sink loosens the bond between the heat sink and the processor, thereby making separating
them easier.
Make sure not to pull the processor out of the socket when you lift the heat sink, especially if you cannot warm
the heat sink before removal. Inadvertently removing the processor can damage the pins.
The heat sink is secured with four Torx captive screws. Be sure to loosen and tighten nthe screws in the order
indicated on the heat sink.
Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly
2. Remove the access panel
3. Remove the processor fan
Remove the heat sink:
1. In the order indicated on the heat sink, loosen the four Torx captive screws (1).
2. Remove the heat sink (2).

To replace the heat sink, reverse the removal procedures.
