PREFACE This Operator’s Manual is meant for personnel that are operating the machine and are responsible for its daily maintenance. Kindly read this manual fully prior to starting work. Such instructions as are related to your safety and/or that of others are marked in the margin by a warning triangle with exclamation mark.
- Observe the prevailing legislation for public road transport. - Use flashing lights or other safety signs, when required. - Don’t stand on the machine. - Use genuine LELY parts only. - Remove the pressure from hydraulic systems before starting work on them and/or before coupling/uncoupling hydraulic hoses.
EXPLANATION OF SAFETY DECALS ON THE MACHINE • Carefully read operator’s manual before handling the machine. Observe instructions and safety rules when operating. • Attention! Moving parts. Stay clear of rotating machine parts. • Danger of getting jammed by moving parts. Keep out of reach of all parts as long as they have not yet been blocked, or are otherwise prevented from moving.
1 INTRODUCTION The LELY HIBISCUS 735 Vario (fig. 1) is a pull type, double cam rake for central delivery. The machine has 2 rotors with 11 tine arms, each equipped with 4 double tines. The tines give a clean sweep and move the grass to the centre in an airy windrow.
- Connect the thick hydraulic hose for control of the lift rams of the rotors to a single acting hydraulic tractor valve with floating position. Max. allowed oil pressure: 17,5 MPa (175 bar). - Connect the hydraulic hoses for control of the slide ram for width adjustment to a double acting hydraulic valve.
4 MACHINE ADJUSTMENTS Conversion to the working position Make sure that nobody is near the machine when it is converted from the transport- to the working position. - Proceed as follows to obtain the working position of the machine: • Actuate the lift rams of the rotors thus removing the pressure from the locking system.
® 5 OPERATING THE HIBISCUS Make sure that nobody is near the machine at the moment the PTO is engaged. Do not allow anyone to come within a 25 m radius from the machine during work. Stop the tractor engine before leaving the tractor cab. General directions - Engage the PTO at the lowest possible r.p.m.
Forward speed and PTO speed Select a forward speed and PTO output (450-500 r.p.m., max. 540 r.p.m.) which ensures a good and clean windrow. If the rotor speed is too high there is the risk of crop not being released soon enough by the tines so that lumps of material are scattered behind the machine.
7 MAINTENANCE Correct machine servicing is necessary with a view to reliable and safe working. Maintenance after operations - Clean the machine thoroughly. - Check the tines and tine arms for tightness and damage, if any. - Grease the machine with a rust preventive. pay special attention to the tines.

C, 40h A, 40h D, 8h E, 40h B, 40h E, 40h F, 40h - Grease the pivot points (A, fig. 11) of the rotor support arms every 40 working hours. - Grease the pivot points of the lift rams (B) every 40 working hours.
Intermittent maintenance Intermittent maintenance has to be carried out: • at the start of the haymaking season; • before prolonged storage of the machine; • when the machine is used extensively during the season. - Grease all points of the machine listed in paragraph 7.2 “Lubrication”.
- Convince yourself of the presence and undamaged condi- tion of all safety decals on the machine (fig. 13). - 2x - (P/N 9.1170.0408.0) - 2x - (P/N 9.1170.0407.6) - 2x - (P/N 9.1170.0437.1) - 1x - (P/N 16.61.175) - 2x - (P/N 9.1170.0125.4) Change of oil/grease - Change the oil of the gearbox (fig.
Forward / backward inclination of the rotors In some cases it is recommended to adjust the rotors in a slightly inclined forward or backward position, for example, in case there are differences between the LH and RH rotor. This can be done as follows: - Untighten the locking bolts of the adjusting ring (fig.
