innovators in agriculture PREFACE This Operator’s Manual is meant for personnel who operate the machine and are responsible for its daily maintenance. Kindly read this entire manual prior to starting work. Instructions relating to your safety and/or that of others are marked in the margin by a warning triangle containing an exclamation mark.
- Observe prevailing legislation for public road transport. - Use flashing lights or other safety signs, when required. - Do not stand on the machine. - Use genuine LELY parts only. - Depressurise the hydraulic systems before starting work on them and/or before coupling/uncoupling hydraulic hoses.
innovators in agriculture EXPLANATION OF SAFETY DECALS ON THE MACHINE - Read the operator’s manual carefully before operating the machine. Observe instructions and safety rules during operation. - Danger! Moving parts. Stay clear of rotating machine parts. - Danger: flying objects! Maintain a sufficient, safe distance from the machine while the tractor engine is running.
1 INTRODUCTION The LELY HIBISCUS 425, 455 and 485 S (fig. 1) are trailed, single-rotor rakes for side delivery. The rake is equipped with 1 rotor with 11 or 13 tine arms, each equipped with 4 double tines.
innovators in agriculture 3 TRANSPORT The HIBISCUS rake can be transported by the tractor after it has been adjusted to the transport position. Adjust the machine to the transport position as follows: - Slide the swath curtain inwards and secure it with the locking pin. - Remove the locking bar and fold the safety guard upwards (fig.
innovators in agriculture 4 MACHINE ADJUSTMENTS Put the machine into the working position as follows: - Place the tine arms on the rotor (fig. 6). - Remove the locking bar and fold the safety guards downwards. Allow the locking bar to slide back into the locking system and check whether it is properly locked.
innovators in agriculture Cam track adjustment The cam track determines the rise and descent of the tines fitted to the tine arms. Rise and descent moments can be changed by adjusting this system. Correct adjustment depends upon crop/terrain conditions and forward speed.

innovators in agriculture Smaller night swaths can be created by not using the full working width (fig. 12). If fuller swaths are required, double (fig. 13) or multiple swaths (fig. 14) can be created. EN-12...
innovators in agriculture If crop remains in the middle behind the machine (fig. 15), the top link must be shortened until the crop is picked up properly. If the crop is not picked up properly on the sides (fig. 16), the top link must be extended and the height adjustment or cam track must be corrected.
innovators in agriculture 6 DISMOUNTING FROM THE TRACTOR Always place the machine on hard, even ground. - Secure the steering device with the locking pin (fig. 17). - Place the parking jack in the bottom position. - Lower the tractor hydraulics until the parking jack rests on the ground.
innovators in agriculture 7 MAINTENANCE • Correct machine servicing is vital for ensuring reliable and safe operation. Maintenance after operation - Clean the machine thoroughly. - Check the tines and tine arms for tightness or any damage. - Grease the machine with an anti-corrosion agent. Pay special attention to the tines.

innovators in agriculture - Grease the pivot points A (fig. 21) of the tandem wheel assemblies every 40 working hours. 40 h - Grease the splines and the height adjustment wind handle every 40 working hours (B, C, fig. 21). - Grease the steering device of the three-point hitch every 40 working hours (fig.
innovators in agriculture Periodic maintenance Periodic maintenance must be carried out: • at the start of the raking season; • before prolonged storage of the machine; • when the machine is used extensively during the season. - Grease all points of the machine listed in § 7.2 “Lubrication”. - Grease the spring-loaded locking pins of the yoke lock of the PTO shaft.

Supplement A innovators in agriculture OPTIONAL EXTRAS Tine retainer The tine arms of the HIBISCUS rake can be equipped with a tine retainer. This simply accessory ensures that in the event of a collision with an obstacle, the tines will not fall off the tine arms due to broken coils and remain behind on the field.
