Storage

If you wish to store the machine for a long period of
time, the perform following steps:
1.
Always shut off the engine, remove the key (if
equipped), wait for all moving parts to stop,
and allow the machine to cool before adjusting,
cleaning, storing, or repairing the machine.
2.
Remove accumulations of dirt and old grass
clippings. Sharpen the reels and bedknives, if
necessary; refer to the cutting unit Operator's
Manual. Coat the bedknives and reel blades
with a rust preventive. Oil all lubrication points.
3.
Raise and support the machine to remove its
weight from the tires.
4.
Replace the hydraulic fluid and filter and inspect
the hydraulic lines and fittings. Replace, if
necessary; refer to

All fuel should be removed from the fuel tank.
Run the engine until it shuts off. Replace the fuel
filter; refer to

While the engine is still warm, drain the oil from
the crankcase. Refill it with fresh oil; refer to
Changing the Engine Oil and Filter (page
7.
Remove the spark plugs, pour 30 ml (1 fl oz) of
SAE 30 oil into the cylinders, and crank slowly to
distribute the oil. Replace the spark plugs; refer
to
Replacing the Spark Plugs (page

Clean dirt and chaff from the cylinder, cylinder
head fins, and blower housing.
9.
Remove the battery and charge it fully; refer to
Servicing the Battery (page
on the shelf or on the machine. Leave the cables
disconnected if it is stored on the machine.
Store the battery in a cool atmosphere to avoid
quick deterioration of the charge in the battery.
10.
If possible, store the machine in a warm, dry
location.
