When the temperature rise with respect to normal operating conditions is not justified by a
corresponding increase in the applied load, the rotation speed, the temperature of the surrounding
environment, or any other factor, the gear unit must be stopped immediately and the cause of the fault
must be identified.
Different prescriptions apply to the use of the gear unit in high temperature environments and/or in the
vicinity of heat sources. In these circumstances, which are normally discussed at the contract stage,
consult the BONFIGLIOLI RIDUTTORI sales department about the best type of lubricant to be used.
If the gear unit is not used for a prolonged period following installation or run-in, it must be run at least
once a month, either in no-load or loaded conditions. If this is not possible, the gear unit must be
protected against corrosion with a suitable rust inhibitor, or completely filled with new oil of the type
normally utilised for operating duty.

5.5 USING THE EQUIPMENT

Before putting the gear unit into service, the User must ensure that the plant in which it is installed
complies with all applicable directives, especially those regarding health and safety at work.
The gear unit may not be used in areas and environments:
with highly corrosive and/or abrasive vapours, smoke or dust
in direct contact with loose food products.
Danger zone and exposed persons:
The danger zone of the gear unit is the protrusion of the shaft which constitutes a hazard for
exposed persons in direct contact with it (crushing, cutting, trapping). In particular, when the
gear unit is operating in automatic mode and in an accessible area, the shaft must be protected
by a guard.
