1. Purpose: to provide end users and customers a simple and quick procedure to identify
which part failed in N5200 / 1U4500.

2. Procedure

2-1. Do not insert any HDD into the N5200/1U4500 system. Attach the power cord and
connect the LAN cable between N5200/1U4500 WAN port and a PC or NB. Don't use a
HUB.
2-2. In case the system fan and PSU fan don't rotate, and the LCD doesn't light up, the power
supply unit is bad.
2-3. After the power button pressed, the system should beep within 5 seconds. Actually, it
indicates the motherboard boots up successfully. If no beep, the motherboard may be
bad.
2-4. In case the LCD stays at [Self Testing...] for more than 1 min, the Disk-On-Module may
be bad.
2-5. In normal case, the LCD should start rotating NAS info after booting up for 2 minutes. If
not, the Disk-On-Module which containing the NAS firmware has problems.
2-6. Press the reset button for 5 seconds to load factory default. The NAS will auto rebooting
and then load factory default settings. The whole process completes in about 2 minutes.
This resets the N5200/1U4500 to its default IP address and password settings.
Default IP of WAN port: 192.168.1.100
Default IP of LAN port: 192.168.2.254
Default admin password: admin
2-7. Set the IP address of a PC or NB as 192.168.1.111, and then access the login webpage.
Make sure the N5200/1U4500 and the PC or NB is directly connected through a LAN
cable, not through a HUB or a router. Using Thecus Setup Wizard to discover the NAS
and then login into it is also OK. In case the login process failed, the DOM or M/B may
have problems.
